CHRISTMAS ----- A TIME OF JOY. 2013

Christmas is the season of joy. It is a time of GOD sharing His love with us (human beings). It is a time of healing and renewed strength. At Christmas we celebrate the birth of JESUS CHRIST ----- the God child. GOD became man in JESUS CHRIST. His birth brought joy to the world. The shepherds, wise man and angels shared in the excitement of the birth of Jesus. In the bible in 1 John chapter 4 versus 9 it says “And GOD showed His love for us by sending his only son into the world so that we might have life through him. This is what love is”. So Christmas is about God’s gift to us and the beginning of the tradition of gift sharing.

Before sharing material gifts, we all must share in the following gifts to make Christmas really meaningful.

• Gift of forgiveness---- forgive anyone you are harbouring a grudge against. 
• gift of contact---- make contact with family or friends you have not spoken to for a while
• gift of happiness--- take some flowers and visit a lonely person
• gift of compliment--- sincerely compliment people

As we exchange gifts and has parties, let us not forget the best gift the human kind has ever received – the love of God in the person of Jesus Christ. Christmas without Jesus is meaningless for it is his birthday we are celebrating. Let us make him a part of our celebration.

PRAYER

Dear GOD, thank you for the gift your son Jesus Christ. Help me to accept your gift with gratefulness and make HIM a part of my life. Grant me the strength to live as HE lived, serving others. Let the joy of Christmas be a part of my daily living. Amen
